This is my first post dictating on my HTC Evo 4G with the Wordpress app . I am strictly speaking to the Evo.

So far I’ve truly enjoyed the Evo 4G from Sprint, the device only has a couple of quirks. The battery is a slight hold back, but by now I have it setup in a manner that is perfect for me, and battery leakage is no longer an issue for me.

Put it this way. If you were a Ferrari or Lamborghini owner would you put regular octane gas in it? Or would you put premium or 110 octane in it? You knew going into that purchase that the car would get horrible gas mileage and it would be a little more for the price of fuel. But why did you buy it then? Because you knew it was a performance driven monster, and you were willing to take the small short falls for the enormous gains. These are exceptions we have to take when dealing with high performance devices. I really do have to say that battery complaints are over stated. I leave in the morning with a full charge, by 9:45PM I have to plug it in. To a deep geek like myself it is not a problem. I “manage” my phone like I would my PC, when I am not browsing or working the device hard I turn off 4G and wifi, that simple. I get “total control” of what my device does, when I want to do it, not when it decides to do it. I am its master, and it loves being punished.

Manage this
Pundits complain about Android and how you have to “manage” the environment, well that’s something that comes with the ability to multi-task. We will see how well Windows Phone 7 and IOS4 are able to handle it down the road without “user management” . For me, I like control, I like freedom, I want sheer face peeling speeds, and I will take the pit falls that come with it. 4G is awesome, I mean it obviously is not everywhere (for me it is), and speeds vary, but ATT still does not even have 3G for the iPhone properly sorted.

Steve’s Zoo
For me personally my Evo 4G is the device for me, if you want to be a monkey of the Steve Jobs zoo then hop on board with the new iPhone, if you want to be a roaring lion roaming free to do as you as you please then get a Evo 4G. For me I prefer power and I don’t mind plugging it in. In time software will update the battery issues and applications will come out to help manage this. If you are simply that concerned then you are not ready for the real brute force the Evo 4G provides, and should stick with your outdated Blackberry or non impressive iPhone. 5 Mega-pixel camera? Wow, that is too bad, still on ATT 3G? I do not feel your pain. Hello Google Voice on 4G with crystal clear clarity. If I could get a plan without cellular minutes I would, that is how good Google Voice is on this device. Hello live streaming video off my 3G or 4G connection (iPhone is only 802.11) .

Google has really only put a year and a half of hardcore promotion of Android devices, they are already eating up a large market share for such a young product, so what does five years looks like for Android? If Windows Phone 7 does not intervene Google might have the iPhone’s guts strewn all over Cupertino’s roads by then. Apple is scared, mainly because the iPhone is no longer king, and if you think the iPhone 4 will be king then you are flat out wrong. The iPhone 4 is not new, it is not revolutionary like the first iPhone. When I mean “King” I mean king of the “new”, king of innovations, king of new technology. Acer this year will have a Android phone that is 2GHZ and AMOLED, tell me what you think of that iPhone user? Steve wont even let you see the core speed of the A4. When you buy something with your recession proof money don’t you want to OWN it, and not lease it? They lied about the screen resolution on the iPhone 4, and they have lied about the specs of the IPS screen, what else are they feeding you?

Suggestions
Jump ship, if you are not sold on the Evo 4G then get another gun slinging Android device (Incredible, Droid 2, Shadow, Nexus one) or wait to see what Windows Phone 7 brings to the table. The iPhone to me is the Justin Bieber’s of phones. It wears skinny jeans, and men’s ked’s, and lies to teenage girls to get to 3rd base (or to steal the parents credit cards), and the Evo is the Steve McQueen of the game, he drank a lot but damn was he fast (and probably still lied to underage girls).

Innovation’s lost
I would not be dictating this if I felt like the iPhone 4 was a destroyer of mobile worlds like the first iPhone. But it simply was not ground breaking. Nothing to me about the iPhone 4 screams at me and says INNOVATION! It says to me that Apple is playing it safe.

Cobweb’s
My suggestions to the average smart phone user trying to decide the iPhone or Android route would be to wait it out till the winter to see what Microsoft has in that magic hat, if it is another fail then go the Android route. But by that time Steve and his clones will have another shiny version of the iPhone out, complete with new revolutionary 6 mega-pixel camera, and new ultra retina display (I kid). Take the cob web’s off your eyes and do the research, devices are so alike in so many ways now it is just a matter of personal preference. If you like to feel like the “king of the road” then get the Evo, if you like Justin Bieber, skinny jeans and Twilight movies then get the iPhone.

Yes, it is that simple.

Dictation over.

Seriously. No, seriously. Has anyone outside of the 70’s seen this guy dressed in something other then his black mock top, jeans, and New Balances? Suits on special occasions don’t count.

So much is said in just the way he dresses. Is it his uniform? What does he wear at home? Why do I even care? I have no answer for any of those questions.

I was going to write some deep post about Microsoft security and all this hoopla that Google is moving away from Windows. But it will blow over, because in reality probably not a lot of consumers care. Windows is still the most reliable option out TODAY. Is it really still that much of a lofty price for Windows? Not at all. People just love bashing Microsoft, over security threats and cost. If 75% of the world used your OS don’t you think some people would find some holes in it as well? No matter what you think of the business practices they have, they still win time after time in the OS comparison test. Has anyone really tried any of the Chromium builds? I do have to say its crap at this point. But I wont scoff at Google and their aspirations. But right now, what the public sees is utter crap. Not many companies can go the Ubuntu route, since in my mind it is the only Linux build that is close to a complete product for standard enterprise users. Google is filled with a bunch of techno-bots so I understand how they could go that route. But most enterprises would not touch that subject on the idea of replacing Windows 7 with Ubuntu. If you are a nay sayer find me proof, find me links, find me companies. I always have an open mind for change, but I don’t think much will be found.

But back to Slob Jobs.

I started reading all the “Live Blogging” on D8, and it just spurred this up about Jobs. (By the way “Live Blogging” is very idiotic, its called a camera and a internet connection. Let’s not go backwards.) Sorry. Deal with it.

How smug is this guy? Probably just as smug as his clothing and products. Maybe he thinks, ”if everyone knows I am a billionaire why would I have to impress everyone with my clothing”. Because your a damn billionaire. I mean care a little. You have a freaking jet, and that is how you dress? A JET! A jet that blocks the FAA from tracking you. Do you really have people follow you? That is kind of smug. Really? Have to make sure Gizmodo does not follow you to China?

If I dressed like this everyday people would think I am a serial killer OR Stevie Freakin Jobs.

I’m done.

I am sick and tired of the half tech pundits that try to create news when no news is available. Like this, it was then picked up by the black hole of news, the drudgereport. With it’s one liner’s like yesterday’s title “Apple Overtakes Microsoft as the biggest tech company…”, 80% of the one liners people read on the drudgereport are just that “one liners”. How often do people actually dive into the article, to find out that the “one liner” was a lie.

None of this is news. Market cap size is a joke when you try to compare companies relevancy to the tech industry and how their products transform society, and Microsoft once again overcame Apple in market cap today. So that must make Microsoft the biggest tech company in the world now(I’m the Juggernaut B*%tch!)? Yes, and no. Microsoft still is king of the software ring, and gaming ring (even though its starting to get long in the tooth). Apple right now is the king of hardware and mobile. Google is the king of the Web and ads, and soon mobile. They all have products that overlap in certain markets, but they are all king of their own niche. Microsoft makes great productivity software and a great OS in Windows 7. They have enterprise software locked down for the moment as well, and Bing is promising in the search segment. But mobile has been a huge disaster over the years for Microsoft, and Windows Phone 7 is STILL not out, I am still not sold on it, I still feel like Microsoft is STILL not devoting the attention it needs to this campaign. But maybe SteveB has a rabbit to pull out of his non innovative magic hat. What country is Bill in right now? Can we get him back? No, seriously can he come back?

Apple, king of bling. They make great shiny hardware that interfaces well with very simple software. They dominate right now in the mobile sector. But not for long. Google and Android are set to destroy all. Now Apple is soon to release the iPhone 4g. We will shortly see how much Steve Jobs believes in his idea of innovation or will he run the Microsoft route? Will it change the game even more? Not sure, but healthy competition like this usually means good things for the consumer.

They are not kings of the entire industry yet but in two years they will be able to deliver. That company is Google. If I was asked a year ago if I thought Android, this little Linux build would be one of the worlds largest mobile operating systems in the world I would have laughed. But it has captured the essence of what mobile should be. Everyone now a days seems to have a hat or two in the ring when it comes to who is the juggernaut in the mobile playing field, but in ONE YEAR, they have came from nothing to number two in the US for smart phones. They are selling more units on a daily basis then the iPhone, that does not say much since the current iPhone hardware has not drastically changed since it was introduced. But we will see how many more people fall for Apple’s tricks with the iPhone 4G. But lets get back to Google. Android will eventually be king of mobile, something very drastic would have to happen to the companies culture and thought process to fall off. I do say this though, INVASION OF PRIVACY WILL KILL a brand. What I mean by that is simple, Americans like privacy, we view it as a freedom, if it is taken away or manipulated we buck. Look at a lot of the detractors over Facebook privacy and security issues, how far is too far? Will it kill Facebook, probably not. Mark Zuckerberg gets it. How much information is too much? We all have our own levels of privacy intrusion we accept and maybe Google is the company that we will eventually push back on over privacy issues. But I no longer hold any cards for any of the camps, to me they are all great, but right now Google is winning. When I hear people say “Google Docs will never compete with Office”, or “Chromium is joke”, I do not laugh anymore with them. I have seen the power of Google’s dev’s, we have witnessed the dedication and understanding that Google’s upper management shows. To me it’s pretty astounding, to see such a fluid mesh of managers, developers, partners and marketing, work so effectively in ONE YEAR.

Google dev’s are dedicated zombies, they have tasted the flesh of their rivals and they want their BRAIN’S. But what happens when they do reach that promise land of “King of Tech”? That is the question Google should be asking themselves, and knowing them they already have a planned strategy for that moment.

But lets be clear though. Google really didn’t build Android from the ground up, it was purchased by Google, then their dev’s took it farther. Which is Great, but in the world of development it would be viewed as cheating, and in the world of business it would be viewed as a great investment. To me it makes no difference. But Microsoft and Apple built Windows Phone 7 and the iPhone OS from the ground up. Google did not do the same. Will we see “serious fragmentation” be a problem in future Android builds, probably not. Now we can call Google smarter in its purchasing power by purchasing Android, but we have to give credit to the great developers at Apple and Microsoft for constructing the framework their futures will hold. But at the end of the day Google owns Android, and building from the ground up really does not matter at this time in the mobile game. It’s who is in the ring when the game starts, and Google just sucker punched the hell out of Apple.

At the end of the day none of this matters. What matters is that each person have a handset that works for their specific needs. So do your research on what your needs are, and jump into the game.

Here we are everyone. Dusting off the old, bringing in the new. I feel like I just walked into an abandoned nuclear silo. Nothing works, but the ideas, feelings, and utter insanity still exist.

We are back. We have a lot to say, and a lot of it is not nice, fair, politically correct or even relevant. But dammit we sure in hell are going to say what is on our minds.

The last post I left everyone before I went underground was a write up titled, “Technology will kill us all”. Technology consumes us in almost every aspect of everything we do, what would happen if it all went dark? Really think about how your life would be affected.

In a world of cubicle dwelling trolls and multi-function printers I sometimes think to myself did our founding fathers of technology foresee this to happen?

I still feel the same, I feel it even more today. Technology will kill us all. But we already know this, right? So what do we continue to do? We take a breather, we step outside, breathe deep, relax, turn off, cut the cables. When was the last time you did this ?

Are we so far ingrained in technology that our society is bound to crumble. Do you ever feel helpless to this monster? Why cant we ignore it, why cant we get out?

We pray for devices, applications, bandwidth, thinking they will solve all of life’s problems, always consuming the new “news”. It use to be we only needed the one you loved, a warm place to sleep, a good healthy meal, and an 8 hour nights rest. Not anymore, we pray for better 4G coverage, LTE licensing, more memory, faster processors, quicker services, richer content, who has the most virtual friends & followers, everything on demand. We have lost touch with what life is suppose to bring us. Happiness!

Now a lot of people think they have found happiness in a device, in a app, a service, etc. I cant judge what makes another human being happy, and neither can you. We all find happiness in different places, who am I to say that your new FourSquare app does not bring you happiness. I mean who doesn’t want to let all your friends and strangers know where you are at all times? I mean its you being “Social” right? Why would you want to interact face to face with other humans when you can check in with them by tapping into a 3.7 inch screen while you are getting coffee. Screw talking, I’ll just tweet you my order barista.

So lets get back to Reality!

The power of technology is endless, and awesome. But we need to sometimes put the brakes on the endless dribble that comes out on a daily basis. We have some of the most brilliant minds working on projects that hinder humanity instead of progress it forward. We bare our souls to search engines and social networking. Before technology other humans did that with other humans.

So what I want you to do today is make a “Human Connection”. Start up a conversation with the interface of reality playing. No, handhelds, no tweeting, no facebooking, or instant messaging. Shake some one’s hand, go talk to them face to face.

SBG Out.
