The Geekery has been updated

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

As you may have already noticed, The Geekery has gotten a minor face lift this evening. We’ve tweaked the site theme fixing some issues regarding text alignment through-out the site. We’ve also enabled a few new things. We’ve enabled the WordPress plug-in Slashdiggilicious so you can quickly “digg” or bookmark this site in numerous web services.

Also: we’ve added a menubar at the top of the site for important links such as our About us page and our brand new Change log page designed to keep track of changes and implementations we do here on the site. You’ll see with tonight’s changes we’re at version 2.0.1 of the site. Yeah we’re using version numbers for the site - we’re geeks remember?

Based on feedback, we’ll be tweaking some graphics including the top header image and adding some new UI enhancements as we move forward. Here on out, I probably won’t post much in the way of site updates unless we make some big changes. We’ll of course update our Change log accordingly though.

Special thanks goes out to Long Zheng for helping with CSS issues this evening.

Reign down your negative comments upon us! It is the only way we make progress here.

My first post with Live Writer :: Slick as a penguin cave

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Wow! I am really impressed with this app, so many options. I was just telling my counterpart Mr.Leblanc how much I am enjoying all of the new Live app’s. they have such a consistent flow to them, I love how everything is uniformed. No offense to MS but the yesteryears of Live app’s were not this good. But I understand things take time and patience, and I really think MS has pulled it off with this line of applications (Live Messenger, Live Writer, Live Mail). If you don’t know what Live Writer is all about here is Microsoft’s explanation “Windows Live Writer Beta is a desktop application that makes it easy to publish rich content to your blog.” So in essence it is what FrontPage use to be for other web content, but strictly for blogs. Live writer supports Live Spaces, SharePoint, WordPress, Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, Moveable Type, Community Server, and many other weblog services. It is a client side app so you can always edit content even if you are offline. So far so good! Here is the link to download this very effective beta app! Did I mention that it is incredibly easy to use.

WordPress Issue

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

I am currently having an WordPress/K2/Theme/CSS issue in regards to users who are viewing the site in Internet Explorer 7. If you look under a blog post title and who the blog post is under you’ll notice there is no space between the name of the blog poster and the word “at”.

issue

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this issue I’d love to hear from you.

Currently this issue does not exist for Firefox users.
